Heat Strengthened Glass Heat strengthened glass involves heating annealed glass to a temperature of approximately 1150oF and then rapidly cooling both surfaces simultaneously. This locks the surface of the glass in a state of high compression. Heat strengthened glass is defined by having a residual surface compression of greater than 4000psi and less than 7000psi
